SBC Summit inks long-term deal to remain in Lisbon until 2030

SBC announces debut of Affiliate Leaders Summit in Lisbon

Lisbon, Portugal

SBC Summit, one of the world’s leading annual online gaming gatherings, will remain in Lisbon, Portugal until at least 2030 after SBC this week signed a new long-term agreement with Turismo de Portugal, the Municipality of Lisbon and Lisboa FCE.

In a statement, SBC said the agreement extends its commitment to Lisbon beyond the previously confirmed 2027 edition, with dates and support now agreed for 2028, 2029 and 2030.

This, the company added, is important because the combination of the host venues – Feira Internacional de Lisboa (FIL) and the MEO Arena – gives SBC the scale to continue delivering the exhibition, conference, networking and entertainment program that has become central to the event.

“We’re happy to formalize the way we feel by committing to this city till 2030,” said Rasmus Sojmark, CEO & Founder of SBC. “Onwards and upwards. The agreement gives SBC and our attendees and partners the stability to plan and invest for the future. Knowing exactly where we’ll be and for how long means we can keep pouring everything into making the summit bigger, better and more valuable for everyone who comes through the doors.”

António Ramalho, President of the Executive Board at FIL, added, “We are committed to working alongside SBC, supporting its ambitions and creating the conditions for the Summit to continue growing in Lisbon. Events of this scale and international reach are key to positioning Lisbon, Parque das Nações and FIL at the forefront of the global events industry, reinforcing our city’s ability to attract and successfully host some of the world’s leading events.”

The agreement was formally signed on the final day of SBC Summit on Wednesday, with senior representatives from the City of Lisbon, FIL and Turismo de Portugal in attendance.

While final attendance numbers for this year’s SBC Summit have not been confirmed, the organizer said attendees travelled from 178 countries and generated an estimated 85,000 room nights across the Portuguese capital.

The figure could have been higher but for the fact that SBC Summit in Lisbon and G2E in Las Vegas were held in the very same week this year, forcing many in the industry to choose between the two.

Next year the events will be one week apart, with SBC Summit scheduled for 21 to 23 September 2027 and G2E for 27 to 30 September.

Preceding both will be the IAG EXPO, running from 13 to 16 September 2027 in Manila, Philippines.
